Dumpster sizes we rent in Phoenix

Dumpsters are measured in cubic yards, meaning how much debris they hold. One cubic yard is about the size of a washing machine. A standard pickup truck bed holds roughly 2 to 3 cubic yards, so a 20 yard dumpster holds about six pickup loads.

Still guessing? Read our dumpster size guide, or just call. Choosing the wrong size is the most expensive mistake people make, and it takes us about two minutes to help you avoid it.

Dumpsters by project

The type of debris matters as much as the amount. Heavy material like concrete, rock and roofing tile fills a weight allowance long before it fills the container. Light, bulky debris like furniture and cabinets does the opposite. Pick your project to see what we recommend:

What's included in your price

  • Delivery to your driveway, job site or approved street location
  • The rental period agreed on the phone, with extensions available if the job runs long
  • A weight allowance suited to your debris type
  • Pickup and disposal at a licensed facility

What can change the final bill: going over the weight allowance, keeping the dumpster past the agreed date, loading prohibited items, or filling above the top of the container. We explain all of these before you book, so nothing is a surprise. For more detail, see what affects dumpster rental cost in Phoenix.

Phoenix-specific things to know

Driveway vs. street placement

Most residential dumpsters go on the driveway and don't need a permit. If yours has to sit on a public street, sidewalk or alley, the City of Phoenix requires a right-of-way permit. Our Phoenix dumpster permit guide explains when you need one.

HOA rules

Much of the Valley is HOA territory, from Ahwatukee to North Phoenix. Many HOAs limit how long a dumpster can sit in view or require advance notice. Check your CC&Rs before delivery day.

Heat, monsoons and your driveway

Summer asphalt and pavers soften in 110°F heat, and a loaded roll-off is heavy. We can place boards under the rails to help spread the load. During monsoon season, keep loose, light debris weighed down or covered so wind doesn't scatter it. Here's how to get ready for delivery.

What you can't put in a dumpster

Paint, solvents, motor oil, batteries, tires, propane tanks, asbestos, medical waste and other hazardous materials are not allowed. See the full list of accepted and prohibited items. Ask us before you load anything you're unsure about.

Common questions

How long can I keep a dumpster?

Rental periods are set when you book and usually cover a typical project for that size. If your job runs long, call and we can extend it. Tell us your timeline up front and we'll quote it correctly.

How fast can you deliver a dumpster in Phoenix?

It depends on availability in your part of the Valley and the size you need. Call (602) 595-7860 and we'll give you the earliest delivery date while you're on the phone.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

No. Mark the spot where you want the dumpster (chalk or a cone works), keep the driveway clear, and make sure we have your phone number in case the driver has a question.

Can I put a dumpster on the street in Phoenix?

Yes, but a dumpster on a public street, sidewalk or alley needs a City of Phoenix right-of-way permit. Driveway and private-property placements generally do not.
